STEAM
At Mokoia Intermediate, we are committed to preparing our students for the future through engaging, innovative, and hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities. STEM learning encourages students to think critically, solve complex problems, work collaboratively, and develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Our STEM programmes extend beyond the classroom, providing students with exciting opportunities to apply their learning in real-world contexts while competing, creating, designing, and innovating alongside their peers.
Challenging Young Minds
Mokoia students can participate in a variety of STEM-focused extension opportunities that challenge them to think creatively, work as a team, and develop their problem-solving abilities.
- Aquabots
Students design, build, and programme underwater robots to complete a range of engineering and technology challenges. Aquabots combines creativity, innovation, coding, and teamwork while introducing students to real-world engineering concepts. - EPro8 Challenge
EPro8 is an exciting engineering and problem-solving competition where teams work together to build, create, and solve practical challenges under time pressure. Students develop resilience, collaboration, critical thinking, and engineering skills while having fun. - Chess
Chess develops strategic thinking, planning, concentration, and decision-making skills. Students learn to think several steps ahead, analyse situations, and develop confidence through friendly competition and tournaments. - RoboCup
RoboCup introduces students to the exciting world of robotics, coding, and automation. Students design, build, and programme robots to complete challenges, fostering creativity, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Learning for the Future
Our STEM opportunities inspire curiosity and encourage students to explore how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can be used to solve real-world problems. Through participation in competitions, challenges, and extension programmes, students develop confidence, perseverance, innovation, and leadership.
At Mokoia Intermediate, we believe the future belongs to creative thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators. Our STEM programmes empower students to explore new ideas, embrace challenges, and discover pathways that could shape their future careers and interests.
