Curriculum Learning
Learning with Purpose
At Mokoia Intermediate, learning is at the heart of everything we do. Every decision we make is guided by one simple question: How will this improve outcomes for our learners?
Our dedicated teachers and support staff work alongside students every day to inspire curiosity, build confidence, challenge thinking, and create a love of learning. We believe every student can succeed when they are known, valued, supported, and provided with opportunities to shine.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, relevant, and responsive to the needs of our learners. It combines the New Zealand Curriculum with the unique stories, people, places, and opportunities that make Mokoia special.
Students experience a rich programme that develops strong foundations in literacy and mathematics while also providing opportunities to explore science, technology, the arts, health and physical education, and our local curriculum. Learning is connected to real-life contexts, encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, collaborate with others, and develop the skills they need for the future.
We recognise that every learner is different. Our teachers use a range of approaches, resources, and learning experiences to meet the needs, strengths, and interests of individuals and groups. Student voice is valued, and learners are encouraged to take ownership of their learning journey.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Learning at Mokoia doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Through sporting opportunities, cultural experiences, leadership roles, camps, education outside the classroom, and community partnerships, students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.
Our local curriculum helps students connect with the history, culture, environment, and people of our region, fostering pride in who they are and where they come from.
