Matua Rawiri’s Shout Out

Kia ora Parents, Caregivers, and Whānau,

As we approach the halfway point of Term Four, there is much to look forward to with a variety of enjoyable events on the horizon. With the year’s end drawing closer, we understand that students may be feeling tired, and we’ve noticed some minor slips in uniform and behaviour. While this can be expected at this time of year, it’s still very important for our students to uphold our school values, show respect for each other and our environment, and follow our school rules.

This week, we attended a successful hui with the Kāhui Ako lead teachers in Mathematics at Lynmore. It was heartening to hear about the many achievements happening across our contributing schools, as well as within Mokoia. Additionally, this term, our curriculum lead teachers have been working hard to ensure Mokoia’s learning progressions are well-aligned with the new Curriculum Refresh. We’re excited to make these available to our teachers, students, and whānau on Hero at the beginning of the new year.

Next week, our Family Food and Fun Fair will provide a wonderful chance for our whole community to come together. With games, food, and entertainment, it promises to be an enjoyable evening for all, and we look forward to seeing you there! Don’t forget you can pre-purchase your tickets for the night through the school office

Finally, I would like to thank all the parents who have joined Mr Upston on the Tarawera Trail walks so far this term. It’s a significant challenge, and for many of our students (and staff), it has been a step outside our comfort zones. Your support and encouragement on the trail have been fantastic to see.

Ngā mihi nui
