Mrs Jones’s Shout Out

Kia ora koutou,

As we end the second week of the term, it is clear how busy and fast-paced this term is going to be. We have the NIWWA science fair coming up, as well as AIMS.

This week marked the start of fundraising for our AIMS teams, and there will be plenty of sausage sizzles and bake sales with delicious treats happening. Keep an eye out for other fundraisers our teams might be having. We really appreciate your support, as it helps our students and their whānau financially with their AIMS endeavours.

Today was a precursor for some of our teams with the Super 11 Hockey, Netball, and Football competitions. Fittingly, with the Olympics currently taking place in Paris, we had ex-Olympian Skeleton competitor Ben Sanford speak at our assembly. He shared his experiences participating in the Olympics and what it took to achieve that level of success. There were some stunned faces when he talked about going headfirst down a track at close to 150 km/h. You never know what dreams or goals his talk might have sparked—perhaps we have a future skeleton racer among us!

This week, we also had the pleasure of hosting our client schools Whangamarino, Rotoiti, and Rotoma for the first time in a long while. They joined us for morning tea, and it was such a wonderful sight to see them smiling, laughing, and playing with our students—a true display of whānaungatanga.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and participation in our school community.

Ngā mihi nui
