Mrs Jones’s Shout Out

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome back to Term 3! The sun has been shining, and it has been a busy start to the term. Mr. Upston has hit the ground running with AIMS organisation. There are lots of Super 11 tournaments coming up for many different codes, so it’s important to keep an eye on our Calendar. We want to wish all our competitors the absolute best of luck in all their competitions and know they the whole of Mokoia Intermediate behind them.

This week our lovely Art Extension group, along with Whaea Fiona and Whaea Rika visited the Arts Village to view their Matariki Super Stars exhibition and learn about artist Regan Balzers beautiful paintings in her exhibition Te oho o te Kōkōrangi: Abundance from the stars. It was very inspiring.

We need to ask for whānau help with an ongoing issue we are having. While we do everything we can, including having a locked compound for bikes and scooters with cameras, we are still having trouble with scooters being taken or played with by students who they don’t belong to. We need your help with two things. Firstly, could you please remind your child they are not to take anyone’s scooter or play on anyone’s scooter without permission.

Secondly, and most importantly, we have a large number of students not locking their scooters and bikes up properly. Students need to bring bike locks to properly secure their bikes and scooters. We have special loops to make this possible with the scootersto keep them safe. Some students are just coming in and dumping their scooters inside the gate rather than putting them away, and even worse, some who are late are simply dropping them over the high fence and leaving them.

If we all work together, we can find a positive solution for everyone.
